Thrummed Mittens are traditionally made with wool roving that is twisted into thrums that fill the inside of the mitten with warm fiber. Each thrum is individually twisted and worked into the knit stitches in a pattern. It is a time consuming task! We have come up with a way to simplify the process of making thrums in mittens with our super bulky Paca Cinta ribbon yarn. Thrums are made with the ribbon and tails are left inside to fill the mitten with warm alpaca fiber (in the form of a ribbon yarn).
